Our dear stories and storytelling lovers, we are pleased to announce you a 2nd STORYing Festival programme! This year’s festival theme is heritage, and our guest performers are going to introduce us with their cultural and linguistic heritage through stories from Indian, Jewish, and Italian history.
The programme consists of the morning part, which our youngest storytelling lovers and their families are going to enjoy the most, and the evening part, which is reserved for adults and will be held in English.
MORNING/FAMILY PROGRAM
The morning part of the festival is going to be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm, in the spring edition of the funniest garden in Trnjanska 3.
Saturday, May 25th – Our native guest performers are going to narrate stories from Croatian traditional heritage in Croatian to the little ones and their families. There are going to be stories from different parts of Croatia, stories about brave heroes and fantastic creatures. Martin Manasse is going to complement native guests’ performances with his Stories From the Heart, which he is going to present in English and with so much love and devotion that the audience will be taken away into the magical world of storytelling in the blink of an eye.
Sunday, May 26th – As the day before, Martin Manasse is going to tell Stories From the Heart in English, between two native guests’ performances. We are going to enjoy native stories until 12.30 pm.
EVENING/ADULT PROGRAMME
During the evening part of the festival we are going to hang out in Melin Café (Kožarska 19, Tkalčićeva), Teatar &TD (Savska 25) and Italian Cultural Center (Preobraženska 4), from 7.30 to 10 pm, all three days of the festival.
Friday, May 24th – Shonaleigh Cumbers, probably the last carrier of ancient Jewish storytelling skill Drut’syla, is going to open evening programme in Melin Café, with a cycle of Jewish tales The Ruby Tree.
Saturday, May 25th – We can’t wait to hear stories from Peter Chand, British Indian storyteller who collects stories from visits to his family in India, translates them into English and shares them with other story lovers. His topic for Saturday evening in Teatar &TD is Tongue Tied & Twisted. Peter prepared a special surprise for Zagreb audience – music producer and DJ PKCtheFirst is going to accompany Peter’s storytelling performance with a musical fusion of urban hip-hop and traditional Indian music to create unforgettable storytelling experience.
Sunday, May 26th – We are going to bring our festival to the end in Italian Cultural Center with Storytelling with Leonardo da Vinci by Giovanna Conforto, world known storyteller from Italy.
AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
This year we prepared a new storytelling treat for you – afternoon workshops and seminars in Fun Lab facility. Afternoon programme might especially interest teachers, educators, professors, and future storytellers.
Friday, May 24th – Peter Chand is going to hold a workshop on the Importance of saving and telling stories from our cultures, from 5 to 6 pm.
Saturday, May 25th – We will enjoy the company of Shonaleigh Cumbers and learn more about The Wisdom of our Grandmothers from 4.30 to 6 pm.
We are so happy to share some of the most beautiful stories from all over the world with you.
We look forward to seeing you on 2nd STORYing!
